Welcome to Day 38 of our 100 Days 100 Designs Challenge!
Today, we're excited to showcase the transformation of our Jesmonite Balloon Casting into the "Pearlescent Cup Holder," demonstrating our innovative approach to repurposing materials for new artistic creations.
Materials Used:
- Jesmonite Balloon Casting: Made using Jesmonite AC100 and a balloon in day 23.
- Haksons Gloss Coat (3-4 grams): Provides a shiny, protective finish.
- Haksons Pearl Pigment - Special Blue (5-6 grams): Adds a stunning pearlescent effect to the piece.
- Brush: For a smooth and even application of the gloss coat.
Step-by-Step Process:
- Preparing the Casting: We began with the Jesmonite Balloon Casting from a previous project, which had some aesthetic imperfections.
- Mixing the Gloss Coat and Pigment: A precise mixture of Haksons Gloss Coat and Special Blue Pearl Pigment was prepared to ensure a beautiful, pearlescent finish.
- Application: Using a fine brush, we carefully applied the mixture over the balloon casting, ensuring all imperfections were covered and the surface was evenly coated.
- Curing and Finishing: After allowing the gloss coat to cure, we achieved a robust and visually appealing cup holder that exemplifies both creativity and functionality.
The "Pearlescent Cup Holder" not only demonstrates creative reuse but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the original piece, showcasing our ability to transform imperfections into celebrated features of design.
