#7 Crumble Capsule Trays

#7 Crumble Capsule Trays

Welcome to Day 7 of our 100 Days 100 Designs challenge! Today, we’re excited to share our latest creation – the “Capsule Crumble Trays” featuring a unique crumble effect with stunning red and gold hues.

Materials Used:

1. Capsule Moulds / Petri Dish Moulds

2. Clear Cling Film

3. Candy Stick

4. Haksons Pearl Pigment: Posh Red, Maharaja Gold

5. Haksons Black Opaque Pigment

6. Resin: Haksons Prime Cast (3:1)

Step-by-Step Process:

1. Preparing the Mould:

We started by taking two capsule moulds. We poured a layer of clear resin into each mould.

2. Creating the Crumble Effect:

Next, we cut clear cling film slightly larger than the size of the mould and placed it in each one. Using a candy stick, we created a crumble effect by gently pressing and manipulating the cling film.

3. Curing:

We let the resin cure with the cling film in place.

4. Brushing with Pearl Pigments:

After curing, we brushed Haksons Pearl pigment in Posh Red over the crumble effect in one mould. For the second mould, we used Maharaja Gold.

5. Pouring the Black Resin:

We then poured resin mixed with Haksons black opaque pigment over the brushed surfaces.

6. De-moulding:

After the resin cured, we de-moulded the trays to reveal the perfect crumble effect.

Mistakes / Things We Could Do Better:

1. Bubble Issues:

Some resin came over the cling film, causing bubbles. Additionally, there were bubbles between the cling film and resin that showed through.

2. Black Pigment Intensity:

We didn’t make the black opaque pigment super black, resulting in a slightly translucent appearance. Ensuring the black is fully opaque would improve the overall look.
