Welcome to Day 10 of our 100 Days 100 Designs challenge! Today, we’re excited to share our latest creation – the “Colour Swirl Tray” combining vibrant colours and shimmering effects.
Materials Used:
1. Round Silicone Mould
2. Haksons Prime Art Resin - 2:1
3. Pink, White, and Purple Shimmer
4. Pastel Opaque Pigments (Pastel Violet, Pastel Blue, Pastel Green, Black, Leaf Green)
5. Jesmonite AC100 with Black Pigment
Step-by-Step Process:
1. Preparing the Mould:
We started with a round silicone mould.
2. Creating the Initial Swirl:
We poured a swirl in a ‘y’ shape with pink shimmer mixed with Haksons Prime Art resin (2:1). We allowed it to cure.
3. Adding Pastel Swirls:
Once the pink shimmer layer cured, we added swirls around it using pastel opaque shades: pastel violet, pastel blue, pastel green, black, and leaf green.
4. Creating Additional Patterns:
We used more shimmers to create intricate patterns. It is very important to let each layer cure before pouring the next layer to ensure clean and distinct layers.
5. Adding Extra Jesmonite:
We had some extra Jesmonite from another project, so we poured it in. If you see the matte finish small part in the tray, it is Jesmonite AC100 with black pigment.
6. Finishing with Black Resin:
At the end, we topped the tray with resin mixed with black opaque pigment to give it a striking contrast.
Mistakes / Things We Could Do Better:
We put red colour drops and then a black background with the top up. The resultant colour was brown.
The Colour Swirl Tray turned out beautifully with vibrant and shimmering effects. The process was flawless, but we welcome suggestions on how we could improve.
