Welcome to Day 23 of our 100 Days 100 Designs challenge! Today, we’re excited to share our latest creation – the “Jesmonite Balloon Casting,” featuring a unique shape formed using a balloon and Jesmonite.
Materials Used:
1. Bottle
2. Balloon
3. Jesmonite AC100
4. Empty pigment bottle
5. Clamp
6. Blade
Step-by-Step Process:
1. Preparing the Mold:
We took a bottle and cut it into half, then attached a balloon at the mouth of the bottle.
2. Pouring the Jesmonite:
We poured Jesmonite into the bottle, which then flowed into the balloon. We tied a knot on the balloon.
3. Creating the Depression:
We placed an empty pigment bottle over the balloon to make a depression and used a clamp to hold it in place. After half an hour, we removed the clamp and burst open the balloon with a blade.
4. Final Adjustments:
We noticed that the bottom of the depression had a very thin layer of Jesmonite which broke open, so we filled more Jesmonite in the depression to create a sturdy bottom. We also poured Jesmonite into the small bubbles on the outer section.
